Naked’s Jon Wilkins takes top role at Karmarama

Unknown-2UK agency group Karmarama has replaced former executive chairman Nicola Mendelsohn, who left to head up Facebook Europe last year, with Naked founder Jon Wilkins (left). Wilkins will become an equity partner in the business.

Wilkins founded Naked, a media strategy company initially, with the late Jon Harlow and others 13 years ago. The business, which expanded internationally, was sold to the troubled Australian Photon company a few years ago. Wilkins left Naked last year.

Wilkins says: “I’m really thrilled about joining Karmarama – it feels like a home from home. I love their progressive spirit and believe in their model and what they stand for. As we continue to add more skills and talent to the business I hope my background in building integrated ideas will help.”

Karmarama, which has ambitions to become an all-round marcoms company, bought social media agency Grape Digital last year and added business from Virgin Active, Clydesdale & Yorkshire Banks, Sun Pat, Cobra and Grolsch. It did, though, lose its biggest recent win £40m B&Q in December following a change of marketing director.
