Old school Martin Agency wins Subway
Good to see that The Martin Agency has survived the corporate bloodletting at Omnicom. Now Richmond’s finest has triumphed in a pitch for Subway, beating incumbent the mighty Leo New York (Burnett as was.)
All this, it seems, by pitching jut one creative idea.We don’t know what it was alas but all will be revealed in the fall.

Martin has had a good year so far under returning CEO Kristen Cavallo. Subway is reported to be worth $10m in agency fees, which won’t please Leo owner Publicis Groupe.
Cavalloo says: “One of the things that make Subway great is their belief that advertising can impact their business. From the get-go, we never felt like we had to make a case for the role of advertising. We just had to make a case for our campaign point of view.”
Something pleasingly old school about the whole process. Maybe Publicis’ data monkeys need to spruce up their act.
