Why a donation to MAA helps everyone
MAA has more than 40,000 visits a month – from the obvious centres London, NYC and the West Coast to everywhere in Europe; India , China, Australia and as far as the Sudan and Iran.
It’s reasonable to suppose that we provide something useful, even diverting – especially at a time when the ad business and many of its multifarious suppliers are having a pretty tough time with seismic changes driven by eccentric economics and technology.
One of our key sources of revenue, along with Partner Content and digital ads (most of the latter seems to go to Google) are donations from the individuals and companies that read us: they don’t always agree with us but that’s never been the point.
This stuff doesn’t come free alas (for us) although it’s free to readers: it’s always been a point of principle that we want our content to be free for anyone to access. Big companies or small, established professionals or impecunious students. But, as some ancients far more famous than us, once observed: nothing comes from nothing.
