At a time of year when many agency staff are more likely to be bracing themselves for redundancy, Mother has taken on a load of new people – eight in total – which is heartening news. There are also three promotions.
Perhaps most notably, seven of the recruits are joining the agency’s paid programme for newcomers to the industry, called The Crew. With AI taking away all the junior jobs, it’s no surprise that there were 500 applicants for the seven roles, up from 270 the year before. Previous participants include Publicis UK CCO Ben Mooge and Lions CEO Simon Cook.

The one senior hire is new head of creative operations Preety Mudhar, who will run the creative department and help shape both the operational and commercial sides of the agency. Mudhar spent the last ten years at Wieden + Kennedy where she was culture and operations director, as well as being in charge of the agency’s paid apprenticeship programme.
There are also three promotions: Emma Horgan and Jen Price Thomas are now joint heads of creative production, and Nick Owen is head of new business, replacing David Newsome who moves to the new business team at Mother LA.
Katie Mackay-Sinclair, partner at Mother, said “The work is only ever as good as the people making it, which is why I’ve never understood companies who see their people as a commodity. You back them, you believe in them, and you want more for them than they’d ask for themselves. That goes for everyone in this announcement. I can’t wait to see how far they go.”
