As many as ten agencies pitched for Macmillan Cancer Support’s creative account after the business split with AMV earlier this summer. VCCP came out on top, reclaiming the account that it lost to AMV in 2019 after seven years working on the business.
The Macmillan creative account will be handled by challenger offshoot VCCP Blue, while design and brand arm SomeOne will do the rest. The pitch was initiated by head of brand Nicole Joseph, who joined Macmillan at the start of the year and was previously a brand leader at Marks & Spencer for more than 13 years.

Kate Jones, director of communications, brand and content at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “SomeOne and VCCP Blue impressed us with the strength of their strategic thinking, creative ambition and clear understanding of our mission. We’re excited to work together to help everyone with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are.”
Roly Darby, managing director of VCCP Blue, said: “Macmillan is one of the UK’s most trusted charity brands, and we don’t take lightly the responsibility that comes with helping evolve it. This is a truly integrated win, bringing together SomeOne’s strategic brand expertise and VCCP Blue’s creative and activation capability, and we’re ambitious about what that combination can do for Macmillan’s next chapter. We are looking forward to getting started.”
