There’s a loneliness epidemic, we are told, as too many people live their lives online. So this latest campaign for Chat GPT Voice – hot on the heels of Amazon’s ad for its new Alexa+ model – is careful to show the service being used in social settings or around making arrangements to see people. No AI companions here, just real life family and friends.
Previously the company, part of Open AI, showed grandmas living their best life, and this time it’s over to the grandpas. Three cameos see them using Chat GPT Voice to enhance the good times, whether it’s taking the family to Casablanca for a 70th birthday or selling a vintage guitar in Spanish. They show a range of the useful things that Voice can do while emphasising the conversational way you can interact with it.
Elke Karskens, international marketing director at OpenAI, said: “A conversation can be the start of getting something done. With ChatGPT Voice, you can work through an idea, create a document or translate in real time, all while keeping your hands free. We hope our grandpas spark a little curiosity about what people can get done with Voice in their own lives.”
As ever with the tech companies, there’s plenty of money to spend. The campaign will run on streaming services where they can’t be skipped, like ITV, Sky, Amazon Prime, Netflix and Disney+.
Created by OpenAI’s in house team, the ads were shot in London with media by PHD.
Below is one of the the Alexa+ service spots. The campaign has a different feel but the same message around a voice assistant fitting naturally into a busy life that’s full of real life people to talk to.
