Brand Trump sponsors Trump!

News

Since returning to Washington, Trump has held cage fights on the White House lawn, wrecked the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool, demolished the East Wing of the White House to build a giant ballroom, and run the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts into the ground. His face adorns the Department of Justice, and he has grand plans for a triumphal arch worthy of a Roman emperor. Trump tells us that his White House ballroom will feature space outside of the White House for patrons to enjoy “cocktails” in addition to the protection of “bomb shelters” and that the stone being used for the project is “rated a million-year plus” and weighs “35,000 pounds per square inch.” Hugging one of the three giant flag poles he has installed, he also informed us… “This is a great flag pole. It’s tapered. It’s not a straight up and down job. I’m very good at flagpoles!” It’s true. Under Biden and Obama the flagpoles were a disgrace. People use to say… “hey, what’s with the flagpoles?” Thank goodness Trump has fixed them and all flags will now have his glorious youthful orange countenance on them. Last weekend, he topped off his phantasmagoria by making the nation’s capital tremble with fast, flashy cars roaring around a 1.7-mile street circuit in IndyCar’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix, the capstone of his MAGA-celebration of the 250th anniversary of US independence.

It reminded me of dear old Carly Fiorina, who during her time as CEO of Hewlett-Packard at the turn of the century, in classic “New broom sweeps clean” fashion, one of her first decisions was to cancel the company’s sponsorship of “The Woman’s Challenge.” At the time, the biggest woman’s bike stage race in the world. She said the $285,000 annual fee was a waste of money. She then went out and sponsored the Williams Formula 1 race car team for $15 million a year. But hey, she got to glug Bollinger champagne with the winner of the Monaco Grand Prix on the terrace of the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo. Back here in the US, the winner of the IndyCar’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix has to settle for glugging the traditional pint of milk! After a disastrous record Carly was kicked out of HP with a humongous Golden parachute. ($42 million.) She then ran for the US Presidency. Failing to get the nomination, she stiffed her campaign staff for five years before coughing up a portion of the dough she owed them. Sounds a bit like Trump dontchya think?
