George Parker: Oh for those pre-Halloween days….

News

I am writing this on November Fifth. Guy Fawkes Day! Remember that? Something Britain’s kids celebrated before they were buried under the bullshit of Halloween, yet another fake American “Holiday” manufactured to separate cretins from their cash. (Every year Americans spend $14 billion on Halloween costumes and decorations, $4 billion of which buys pet costumes!)

When I was a kid growing up in Manchester dodging bombs during the blitz (Yes, the Nazis spread their largesse all over Britain, not just London) we would load up an old pram with a “Guy” manufactured out of junk and threadbare clothes, and go door-to-door asking for a penny for the guy. If they obliged you would politely thank them and move next door. If they told you to bugger off, you would wait ‘til they closed the door, then pee on their freshly scrubbed door step. Your dog helped push the pram, and he didn’t need a dumbfuck costume to do it!
