Finger Lickin’ Doom: Mother puts Marvel’s Avengers on KFC global menu

News

“Dunesday” is fast approaching and it can’t come quickly enough for marketers. It’s the day when two blockbuster movies – Dune 3 and Avengers Doomsday – are both released, and there are hopes that it will stir up the same audience frenzy and commercial success as the 2023 “Barbenheimer” mashup.

Understandably, brands don’t want to wait until mid-December to start leveraging their partnerships, so here is KFC with a global campaign by Mother that shows a devastated cityscape after an epic battle between Doctor Doom, Marvels baddest character, and the Avengers. The only thing left standing is, of course, a pristine KFC outlet.

Christophe Poirier, chief concept officer at KFC, said: “This is KFC’s most expansive joint venture to date, and we can’t wait to welcome guests into our extension of the MCU. We’re not just teaming up with the most anticipated movie of the decade. We’re leaning into its biggest, baddest character, and delivering a menu worthy of the moment. This isn’t just about chicken – it’s about putting KFC at the heart of a global cultural phenomenon in the most epic way we could.”

The partnership also involves a Doctor Doom-inspired menu, limited edition packaging, and a quirky range of figurines that dress up Colonel Sanders as Marvel characters:

It’s a big deal for Mother to be trusted with this global campaign, and it looks like the agency has enjoyed the challenge. Picking Doctor Doom instead of the heroic Avengers provides a nice twist that will build excitement for the movie as much as for KFC.
