Centrica stays put at WPP after six month review

Johnny Hornby’s The&Partnership is nothing if not tenacious when it comes to hanging on to business and it’s done it again, retaining creative for British Gas owner Centrica after a review that sees WPP’s MediaCom and Wunderman win Centrica’s media and CRM business. T&P is 49 per cent owned by WPP.

Publicis is thought to have been the other finalist in a six-month review carried out by ID Comms with McCann Worldgroup also involved. Centrica also has a business in North America.

Centrica has a number of problems no agency can fix, like losing customers by the truckload thanks to higher prices. But business is business and both Hornby and WPP CEO Mark Read will see this as evidence that WPP is recovering its mojo in the new business stakes.
