VW in America grasps emissions nettle in WPP ad debut

Volkswagen in America is beginning its fightback proper against the ‘Dieselgate’ scandal (it hopes it is, anyway) with a new WPP agency line-up headed by Johannes Leonardo.

‘Hello Light’ is a pretty dramatic mea culpa, referring briefly to the emissions horror and then showing VW types designing its cars through ages. And, of course, they see the light.

Electric cars. No pesky emissions with them (they hope.)

Bold from VW and WPP. Enlisting Simon & Garfunkel probably worth the money too. Next up is the brand campaign ‘Drive Bigger.’

MAA creative scale: 7.5.
