CSO Chesters joins Ogilvy brain drain

Ogilvy UK CSO Kevin Chesters (below) has quit, hard on the heels of agency CEO Charlie Rudd, Jo Coombs head of OgilvyOne who’s teaming up again with new Publicis Groupe UK country manager Annette King, production head Clare Donald and CCOs Mick Mahoney and Emma de la Fosse who’s gone to Publicis’ Digitas.

New Ogilvy Group CEO Michael Frohlich, who ran the PR side, is restructuring in line with Ogilvy US’s ‘2.0’ refit, which means getting rid of all the sub-brands like, um, Ogilvy & Mather. But if he’s not careful he won’t have anyone left to restructure. He’s promising big changes ahead.

Ogilvy is the biggest of WPP’s creative networks and therefore important to the holding company and new CEO Mark Read. Read and COO Andrew Scott are planning to re-locate HQ from Sir Martin Sorrell’s old redoubt in Farm Street, Mayfair to Ogilvy (and media agency Wavemaker’s) South Bank office. There should be room.
