WCRS beats elite group to MoneySupermarket

Engine Group’s WCRS has won one of the most hotly contested pitches in the UK so far this year, landing price comparison site MoneySupermarket.com against tough competition Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi and Wieden & Kennedy.

MoneySupermarket surprised the ad world by quitting seven-year incumbent Mother in March. ‘You’re so MoneySupermarket’ was the category’s standout campaign although it also attracted its fair share of complaints.

MomeySupermarket marketing director Darren Bentley says: “We saw an incredibly high level of creativity and commitment from all the shortlisted agencies, but WCRS stood out because we loved the way they approached bringing our purpose and culture to life and challenged us to think differently about our business.

“We really enjoyed getting to know the WCRS team throughout the pitch process and we’re looking forward to working together to take our brand in an exciting new direction.”

Price comparison sites remain an advertising driven business and WCRS, which began life back in the 1980s, is one of a relatively small number of London creative agencies that can still pull out all the stops on TV.
