The Corner sells to Peter Scott’s Be Heard Group

Peter Scott’s Be Heard Group is buying ad agency The Corner for £12m. Scott was a founder of WCRS and later built Engine Group into a mid-sized marcoms company before selling to US private equity firm Lake Capital. Engine has since been linked with a sale to Deloitte.

The Corner was founded in 2012 by two execs from Publicis and one from Grey. The management, headed by CEO Neil Simpson, is staying on for a protracted earn-out period. The Corner is Be Heard’s fifth acquisition.

Scott (left) says: “The Corner is an excellent fit with Be Heard – a modern, integrated agency that ‘gets’ how consumers digest technology. This is exactly the step forward we need to help brands and marketers meet today’s challenges across the customer journey.”

As with many of its indie peers The Corner has found it hard to win big accounts although it has earned a good reputation. One of its peers, 101, recently sold to MullenLowe.
