Albert Bartlett and HHM score in checkout comedy war

It’s getting mighty crowded at the supermarket checkout, with Tesco’s rather impenetrable dramas from BBH and now Holmes Hobbs Marcantonio entering the fray for plucky Albert Bartlett potatoes, set on challenging the mighty McCain and others by entering the frozen market.

In place of Tesco’s dysfunctional family AB has yummy mummy Penny and ‘cougar’ Ann.

They could become quite popular – especially Penny.

This is just good old-fashioned short format advertising, engaging and to the point.

A lesson, perhaps, that you don’t need to be modish and ‘edgy’ to wring a laugh out of an ad.

MAA creative scale: 8.5.
