Who’s to blame for Hyundai’s suicide ad?

Here’s the notorious Hyundai iX35 ad from in-house agency Innocean that shows a would-be suicide being thwarted because the thing emits water not poisonous fumes.

Actually it’s well-nigh perfect – apart from the small matter of taste.

Does it demonstrate the perils of in-house agencies? After all, you’re hardly likely to tell the client to fuck off are you? But that’s assuming it was the client’s idea in the first place.

It’s turning out to be quite a year for creative madness. Is this because all copywriters are 18 these days?

Sales of the iX35 will probably soar despite Hyundai busily removing the ad from everywhere (catch it now while you can).
