New Lincoln ad tips its hat to Chrysler and Eminem

Ford’s Lincoln and new bespoke WPP agency Hudson Rouge are coming out fighting in their efforts to revive the luxury brand (GM’s Cadillac has just been voted Car of the Year in the US, which doesn’t help).

This is an intriguing new ad, ‘Phoenix,’ for the MKZ, majoring on technology (as we’ve noted) and also working in a crafty visual reference to dear old Abraham himself, subject of Steven Spielberg’s new movie of course.

But it comes perilously close to Wieden+Kennedy’s celebrated ‘Imported from Detroit’ Chrysler relaunch ad with Eminem.

Un homage or a steal?
