Former MCBD top trio plan new London agency

Former Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy execs Helen Calcraft, Danny Brooke-Taylor (creatives) and planner Andy Nairn (left, in the picture) are setting up a new, as yet unnamed agency.

MCBD was backed by Canadian outfit Cossette and merged with digital agency Dare (another Cossette investment) in 2010. The merger/marriage has not proved a happy one as now all the senior people at MBCD, a highly-regarded agency in its brief heyday with work for Waitrose and Hovis among others, have left.

Intriguingly the three refugees are not commenting publicly on their plans despite being happy enough (they don’t look very happy but you get the point) in this picture for Campaign.

This may well have something to do with the onerous handcuffs agency owners place on their former staff these days. Another start-up Adam & Eve (now part of Adam & Eve/DDB) was sued successfully for around £1m by WPP when they quit RKCR/Y&R.

So that’s about all we can tell you then.
