Leagas Delaney opens in Los Angeles

Leagas Delaney, an agency that’s been written off more times than founder Tim Delaney has won D&AD pencils, is opening its sixth office, in Los Angeles. Leagas Delaney now has outposts in London, Hamburg, Milan, Prague, Shanghai and Tokyo as well as LA.

The agency revealed its plan to open in LA back in April when it hired Michael Pring from Dare to be its international boss.

The company has recruited Maria Escandon (left, who certainly looks the part), founder of local operation Acento Advertising as LA manager. She says: “I feel privileged to join Leagas Delaney as their LA partner. Los Angeles is a key location for strategic growth. Its multi-cultural mix offers tremendous opportunity for our clients advertising in North America.”

Tim Delaney, who founded the agency way back in 1980 with Ron Leagas (long since departed) says: “Leagas Delaney Los Angeles has been structured as a multi-cultural agency that will offer strategic vision and creative across all platforms. María has an exceptional pedigree in founding and running multi-cultural North American agencies and we’re privileged to have her as a managing partner for this next chapter in Leagas Delaney’s international expansion.”

Onwards and upwards then. Tim and his cohorts have done rather well, after a few false starts.
