Currys and PC World sidestep annoying ‘geniuses’ with new M&C animated Christmas campaign

Dixon Retail’s Currys and PC World are still plugging away on the UK’s high streets despite lots of people saying they’d be nixed by online sales and the likes of John Lewis, which is currently prospering by selling bucketloads of iPad Minis.

M&C Saatchi, and before that Saatchi & Saatchi, has been on the advertising case for decades and this is its Christmas offering.

It’s a spin on the much-maligned Apple ‘Genius’ campaign, but eschewing ‘real’ people for winsome animated versions.

If I was attracted by the proposition that someone would set up the whole thing so I could take it home and switch it on, I might want to see a human being in the ad.

But it makes the point clearly enough, something M&C is rather good at.
