Spy’s face-sitting exploits lead to poster ban

The poster below for Spy sunglasses has been removed in Encinatas California (and perhaps in other places too, presumably it wasn’t targeted only at Encinatans) as it aggravated some of the locals.

But if they’d put some visual reference on it maybe they would have got away with it. But then they wouldn’t have got the publicity. Oh well.

Can’t help thinking it’s an opportunity missed though.

Adweek, from whom we shamelessly lifted this story, avers that the aforementioned locals weren’t familiar with venerable UK comedy troupe Monty Python. That we don’t get.

While on the subject of the American trades, have you seen Ad Age’s new typeface? Are they trying to make it somehow more digital? Back to the drawing board guys.
