Nike scores with puppet master Andres Iniesta

Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta is a remarkably cultivated footballer, neat little passes, a deadly eye for goal and none of that getting your retaliation in first stuff beloved of other (mostly bigger) midfielders.

So Wieden+Kennedy London’s new film portraying him as a marionette is a clever move and a refreshing change from the crash-bang-wallop epics favoured by Nike Football recently.

The animation is by Aardman and the film was directed by Patrick Bolvin.

Andres is promoting the new CTR 360 Maestri iii football boot, a bit of a mouthful by even Nike’s standards. What’s a Maestri? A collection of maestros? But there’s only one of him.

But fans will be relieved to know that the boots check in at a mere £104 ($135), rather less than the sports giant’s controversial LeBron James basketball shoes that cost a wallet-draining $315.
