Interpublic leads the bidding for Indian digital agency Interactive Avenues

Interpublic may have been the subject of fevered takeover speculation recently but it is still trying to stay in the acquisition game, reportedly trying to close a deal to buy India’s biggest digital agency Interactive Avenues.

IA, founded by CEO Ratish Nair (left) handles ICICI Bank, Sony India and ITC among others and employs about 150 staff in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.

IPG has its nose in front through its 51/49 joint venture with IA called Reprise Media. This is part of its Mediabrands operation. Other contenders for IA are believed to be Dentsu, Omnicom and Publicis Groupe.

Indian marcoms companies are still being snapped up by Western companies desperate to expand in a high growth market despite recent slowing. A week ago Publicis Groupe bought Resultrix, a digital agency with operations in India, Dubai, Singapore and the US.
