Dodge Dart is a better deal in the US than sibling Alfa’s Giulietta is in the UK

Here’s a decent ad for the launch of Chrysler/Fiat’s new Dodge Dart sporty sedan, based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Agency Wieden+Kennedy Portland has turned the ‘men in white coats’ school of car advertising (patented by Audi/VW) neatly on its head.

The film was directed by Christopher Riggert for Biscuit Filmworks.

But if this is a Giulietta in disguise, how come it costs just $16K (£10,300) in the US while a Giulietta in the UK costs from £17,700 ($27,500) up to £26,000 ($40,400) if you want all the bells and whistles?

We’ve heard of badge engineering but this is ridiculous. Clearly the global car market work rather better for manufacturers than customers.
