Ybrant Digital buys three big websites from Experian in $175m deal

Ybrant Digital, the Indian global digital marketing company, announced today that it has agreed to buy three big websites, PriceGrabber, LowerMyBills and ClassesUSA.com, from information services giant Experian.

PriceGrabber is a price comparison shopping business which powers Yahoo! and MSN shopping. LowerMyBills.com is a one-stop destination that offers savings through relationships with more than 500 service providers across multiple categories including home loans, credit cards, auto, health insurance and long distance and wireless services. ClassesUSA.com is a leading online higher education portal with two million visitors and 300 accredited college and university partners.

This will add a $283m business and an employee strength of over 300 at an agreed price of $175m (INR 930 crores) to Ybrant.

Experian Interactive president Steve Krenzer is moving with the business. He says: “I am very excited to join the Ybrant team. With Ybrant’s global footprint and our leading sites the combined group will make us the pacesetter globally.”

“By adding these established brands to Ybrant we will offer interesting new products and a world class lead generation platform.” says Suresh Reddy (pictured), chairman and CEO of Ybrant Digital.

This is Ybrant’s second successful foray into premium destination sites. The company successfully acquired Lycos.com in 2010. By acquiring these three established internet brands and combining forces, Ybrant says it will double in size and become the leader in many key digital marketing areas worldwide.
