M&S and RKCR/Y&R promise a ‘Summer to Remember’ for the Queen’s loyal subjects

It’s going to be a ‘Summer to Remember’ according to Marks & Spencer and agency RKCR/Y&R and clearly it is, as we’re all going to sitting around waving Union Jacks, running in egg and spoon races and finishing off the day by setting fire to the nearest woodland. Oh yes, it’s the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (60 years on the throne), silly me.

Last year we read that M&S was dispensing with the celebs who have fronted its advertising since Steve Sharp took over as marketing director but they seem to be dotted around here: Aunt Twiggy at the back and Jamie Redknapp on the tennis court, making the various yummy mummys’ hearts go all-a-flutter. How much does Twiggy get paid for (almost) not being in the ad?

It’s alway slightly perturbing to see how the combo of focus group and creative department see us. But why not? Draw the line at Union Jacks though.
