London and Hamburg-based mini-network Leagas Delaney is getting a bit less mini these days and has hired former MCBD managing director and then Dare managing partner Michael Pring (pictured) as its new international partner. The agency, which has offices in London, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Milan, Prague, Shanghai and Tokyo is planning to open in Los Angeles later this year. Pring will report to group CEO Margaret Johnson.
Pring was managing director of AMV/BBDO breakaway MCBD and then managing partner of Dare after Canadian majority owner Cossette merged the two together a couple of years ago. Cossette was once, briefly, the majority owner of Leagas Delaney. But the Dare-ites emerged on top in the merger with MCBD and most of the latter’s senior managers have now left.
After a chequered history Leagas Delaney, still headed by veteran UK creative Tim Delaney, now seems to have stabilised under Johnson and recently lured James Hayhurst from DDB as its London managing director.
