John Lewis and Adam & Eve scoop top commercial at Arrows TV awards, Aldi wins too

The awards season is picking up speed and the winners of the UK’s Arrows Awards for TV and cinema have been announced. Commercial of the year (and lots of other things besides) went to that commercial from John Lewis and Adam & Eve.

Still stacks up, everything about it’s good. The production company was Stink.

Campaign of the year and best 20-second commercial went to Aldi and McCann Manchester (campaigns are a rare thing these days, maybe you can only afford them with 20s).

Don’t know who the client was at Aldi but he or she deserves their very own award for bravery. Production company was The Love Commercial Production Company (which obviously does what it says on the tin).

Best 30-second commercial cum campaign was Wall’s Sausages by Saatchi & Saatchi.

Actually that one, ‘Garage’ is a bit longer than 30 but it’s better than the other one, ‘Kitchen.’ Production company was Rattling Stick which also won Production Company of the Year. Bartle Bogle Hegarty was Agency of the Year.

Will any of these trouble the scorers at Cannes? Not unduly I’d say, they’re too downbeat and, well, British. But that’s life under George Osborne for you.
