It’s just sex, sex, sex these days and now Saatchi goes porn for New Directors’ Showcase

First we had octogenarian Jane Maas telling us about sexual high jinks in the Mad Men era (when did they do any work?), then mainstream agencies running campaigns for porn channels. The fashion business has been porny for years, of course.

Now Saatchi & Saatchi is trying to recruit entries for its Cannes News Directors’ Showcase by showing the impact a porn director might have if he turned his hand to commercials.

The ads name-checked include Heineken’s ‘Refreshes the parts others can’t reach,’ John Smith’s ‘Ave it’ and ‘It’s a bit of an animal’ from Peperami (in case you weren’t paying attention).

‘Naked Ambition’ was directed by the accomplished Chris Palmer. The copywriter was Matt Skolar and the art directors were Eoghain Clarke and Philippe Fass.

The Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase started in 1991 and is one of the highlights of the forthcoming annual Cannes International Festival of Creativity and now goes on a world tour. Past showcases have featured directors Tarsem, Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek, Spike Jonze, Ivan Zacharias, Kinka Usher, Danny Kleinman and Jonathan Glazer. Budding directors (you don’t have to be in porn) should contact edward.mueller@saatchi.co.uk.
