GE joins the Super Bowl adfest with power that makes Budweiser pitch

Is there any point in an industrial business-to-business giant advertising in the Super Bowl? Well GE and agency BBDO think there is and this ad to be aired on Sunday is clearly banking on a fair number of the game’s huge audience swigging Budweiser as they do so.

‘The power that makes the beer’ is a good feelgood line and there’s a growing feelgood factor in US manufacturing too, including presumably at GE’s huge turbines plant in Schenectady, New York State, where Thomas Edison set up business way back in 1887.

These ‘show the troops’ ads can be embarrassing and pointless but BBDO pulls this one off with its trademark authority.
