John Lewis and Adam & Eve in new hearts attack

It’s getting to that time of year again and so UK retailer John Lewis and agency Adam & Eve have launched their latest attack on our emotions.

As we keep saying it’s the music that matters most and Adam & Eve has scored quite a coup in persuading Lancastrian miserabilist Morrissey of The Smiths to allow one of his songs to be used, ‘Please, please, please, let me get what I want,’ which is presumably what most kids think at Christmas.

Actually it’s a great tune, sung by Slow Moving Millie aka Amelia Warner, and the rest, directed by Dougal Wilson, ain’t bad.

Pity, though, that they didn’t go for Morrissey’s best-known work ‘Heaven knows I’m miserable now.’ Perfect for Christmas.

And does the great man, a militant vegetarian, know that John Lewis owns Waitrose, purveyors of turkeys and beef joints to the middle classes?
