Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam is launching The Dam Armada, a business unit of creative developers and designers set up to create digital products from apps to installations.
The Dam Armada is the brainchild of Jordi Martinez who worked at Crispin Porter+Bogusky and DoubleYou before joining W+K Amsterdam.
Martinez says “The Dam Armada is an opportunity to surprise and delight clients with ideas that go beyond their expectations. It’s about proactively developing digital opportunities for brands, working beyond the scope of the briefs we’re given. We are crafters, so we create unique tailor made interactive experiences.”
The Dam Armada works on its own projects, which currently include the ‘Androidion’ mobile app, which it claims is the world’s first dual-handed phone accordion (just what we needed) and the W+K Black Book, an interactive corporate directory. It is also working on an interactive screen for Dutch fashion designer RIMA.
Founded in 1992, W+K Amsterdam is on a roll at the moment, acting as the lead creative agency worldwide for both Coca-Cola and Heineken. W+K, based in Portland, Oregon, has a history of working on projects outside mainstream advertising including a music business in Tokyo.
