Vauxhall ignores Wayne’s hair transplant in new England football campaign

Here we go again, the England football team is surging through the European Championship qualifiers (well it was as of Friday night) and new sponsor Vauxhall is running a campaign to show the nation getting behind the lads (until they strike out when they get to the finals).

It’s a creditable enough effort from McCann Erickson Birmingham but these things are rather better with a bit of humour to anticipate the inevitable day when it all ends in tears.

My sources in the higher echelons of football (well, alright, in the pub) say the good run of form is all down to Wayne Rooney’s joy at his new hair transplant. Perhaps they should have used that.

But it’s probably already been booked by Wieden+Kennedy for the agency’s next football-related epic for Nike.
