S2Publicom was formed last year by the merger of S2 and Publicom, two major public relations firms that have been operating in the country for more than two decades. Both were affiliates of Interpublic-owned Weber Shandwick and Golin Harris.
S2 Publicom has offices in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and employs 125 people. Its clients include McDonald’s, Petrobras, HTC and GOL Airlines.
The world’s big marcoms companies have been falling over themselves to buy advertising, PR and just about any other kind of agency going in Brazil as that country reinforces its position as one of the world’s best-performing economies and prepares for a gigantic further boost when it hosts the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.
Jose Luiz Schiavoni, one of S2Publicom’s founding partners and a former journalist, will continue as CEO.
Schiavoni says: “Through S2Publicom’s long association as an affiliate partner with Weber Shandwick and Golin Harris, the company’s agencies have built a relationship of mutual trust. The experience of bringing the best thinking to clients has demonstrated that the company’s business philosophies and styles are a good fit.”
