Ads on Twitter do work says new Lab 42 research

Research in the US from social media specialist Lab 42 into the way users respond to advertising on Twitter has revealed a surprisingly high response rate.

Lab 24 claims that not only is there a high rate of brand awareness through promoted tweets, with 24.8 per cent of users claiming that they see promoted tweets from accounts that are relevant to them, but that 21.6 per cent claim they have used a discount through a promoted tweet while 21.2 per cent follow new brands as a result of seeing promoted tweets.

Some of these new Twitter services have just been introduced and, for some Twitter users anyway, don’t seem to be as annoying as many observers feared.

The research is likely to lead to a further flood of advertisers onto Twitter which may yet deter devoted tweeters.
