WPP is buying a majority stake in India’s Mindset Advertising which will be added to its JWT network
Founded in 1998 and based in Hyderabad, Mindset is a full service advertising agency that offers creative services, strategic planning and campaign execution in digital, print and television. The agency employs 44 people and major clients include ADP, Airtel and Pepsi.
JWT has operated in India for 80 years and the Mindset buy means that WPP owns or has big stakes in five of the top ten Indian agencies with $450m of revenues and 9,000 or so people.
WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell has made no secret of his ambitions to expand further in India, including adding to his 27 per cent stake in giant agency Rediffusion controlled by Indian ad magnate Arun Nada (Nada doesn’t see things the same way).
