Former JWT worldwide CCO Craig Davis is now back in Australia, as co-chairman and CCO of Publicis Mojo.
I don’t why he chose to forego the JWT shilling but maybe it was to go back to Australia (a nice place to be), do some of his own things (he’s now trying CSR things around ads with his BrandKarma website among other initiatives) and not have to spend his life on bloody planes.
But at this year’s Cannes International Festival of Creativity JWT has popped up all over the place, winning the press Grand Prix for Samsonite courtesy of JWT Shanghai and lots of other baubles besides.
Being a global creative director is a bloody awful job and one which is under-appreciated by the money men who run the networks.
But it’s really important and agencies like JWT, or more likely its owner WPP, should take more care of the people who can do this impossible job than they seem to.
JWT now is producing good work from all over the world, India in particular, and that is due in large part to Davis.
But the company allowed him go.
