Publicis Groupe’s Maurice Levy said last year that he wanted 30 per cent of the company’s revenues to come from China and emerging markets and he’s obviously decided that PR is a good way forward, buying 400-strong Genedigi, which PG claims will make it the biggest PR group in China.
Last year PG bought 120-strong PR firm Eastwei Relations, founded by Swede Johan Bjorksten.
Genedigi has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The announcement is timely as Levy, along with other mavens of the marcoms world, is attending the Cannes Advertising Festival of Creativity this week and the Grand Prix for PR is due to be announced tonight (the Cannes website said tomorrow.
