US luxury goods specialist Lipman targets new areas with heavyweight management trio

Lipman, the New York-based luxury goods specialist agency whose clients include Lord & Taylor and Georg Jensen, is to be bought by a trio of heavyweight executives, including founder David Lipman.

Lipman, who is staying on as chairman, will be joined by former Hewlett-Packard CMO Michael Mendenhall (pictured) as COO and former Fireman Capital Partners and Goldman Sachs executive Andrew Spellman who will be CEO.

Luxury goods are big business for agencies these days (sales of luxury items have proved remarkably resilient through the recession) but Mendenhall has revealed to the New York Times that he is planing to expand into other areas. Prior to joining computer giant H-P he was head of marketing at Disney’s Parks and Resorts business.
