Apple wins Brand Channel’s product placement of the year prize

With product placement finally limping on to UK TV screens this week (the first was a Nestle coffee machine on ITV for a round £100,000) it’s timely to have a look at a rather more developed market, this time movies in the US.

Brand Channel has been totting up the number of placements across the 33 number one box office movies in the US and Apple appears in nearly 30 per cent of them. Equal second are Nike, Chevrolet and Ford.

Some of these were doubtless paid for, some not. If you have a cool star who needs to use a computer you’re going to choose Apple aren’t you?

Anyways it’s an interesting list.
