New Gap logo is trashed to death by Facebook fans

Preppy fashion stalwart Gap seems to be enjoying a new lease of life and North America president Marka Hansen had the bright idea of inviting Gap fans on Facebook to comment on its new logo by New York-based Laird & Partners. You might even have your own ideas, she suggested.

Well they did and the consensus was that it was crap so today it was promptly withdrawn.

New logos are a nightmare of course, they’re much easier for others to criticise than for you to get right. And even the ones that work over time are often disliked at first. So maybe Gap should have stuck to its guns for a little while longer.

As it is it’s egg on faces all round.
