Are clients’ performance incentives for agencies a complete waste of time and money?

By Stephen Foster on May 10, 2012

Surveys of this and that are spewing out of the ANA (Association of National Advertisers) Financial Management Conference in Florida, as they do on these occasions. WPP’s Sorrell gives troubled Y&R a big vote of confidence with planned move from Madison Avenue to 26-storey Columbus Circle

By Stephen Foster on October 13, 2011

Well that’s the way it looks anyway as WPP has taken an option to move Young & Rubicam into 3 Columbus Circle, a big refurbed office block off 8th Avenue and near Central Park. This would mean Y&R departing its 285 Madison Avenue HQ, the agency’s home since its foundation in 1923. If it goes [...]

By Stephen Foster on June 12, 2011

The turbulence continues at Young & Rubicam with long-term client Accenture, the business services giant that was formerly Andersen Consulting, switching its $70m account to TBWA Worldwide. Accenture has also awarded its global production business to Tag. The switch is just the latest to hit WPP-owned Y&R (whose Chicago office recently lost the $360m Sears [...]

Tiger Woods’ indiscretions cost Nike 105,000 balls – but it could have been worse says US business school

By Stephen Foster on December 5, 2010

Academics at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University have estimated that the revelations of ace golfer Tiger Woods’ many infidelities cost Nike, his main sponsor, the loss of 105,000 golf ball sales. But it could have been even worse they say, dumping the Tiger could have cost it $1.6m in lost profits. [...]
