BETC London celebrates 30 years of Diet Coke with the return of the ‘Hunk’

New TV campaigns are a bit like film premieres these days, teaser ads and all. Must be a nightmare, what if it’s a bummer?

Happening London agency BETC, an outpost of the Havas-owned French giant, won Diet Coke in the UK last year and it’s debuting its first ad on Monday, celebrating 30 years of the brand.

So it’s bringing back the diet Coke ‘Hunk,’ an extra-manly man who apparently appeals to Diet Coke’s female fans.

And here’s (a bit) of the old/new rascal.

Here’s his last, full incarnation.

Update

Our friend Jerry Judge reminds us from New York that the above campaign was by Lowe, once the celebrated Lowe Howard-Spink. What a good agency that was.
