Now WPP’s Sorrell wants to buy a Big Spaceship

Sadly it’s a Brooklyn-based digital agency rather than a rival to space-hopping Richard Branson. But Sir Martin Sorrell’s WPP, ever keen to add to its digital offer, is reported to have bid $12.5m for the Brooklyn, New York agency that numbers Adobe, HBO, Skittles, Victoria’s Secret and Land’s End among its clients.

But there is a space race (or grab) going on among the big marcoms companies for digital agencies and media companies with Publicis Groupe’s Maurice Levy claiming that his company is now the number one in the world for digital this and that.

PG also recently announced it was buying into financier Iris Capital Management with its partner Orange to kick start the new €300m OP venture capital business which plans to invest in digital media companies.
