Giant travel website Expedia.com has given its creative account to 180 Los Angeles. 180 LA will handle brand strategy, creative development and execution and integration across all formats, including digital. TargetCast will continue to handle media planning and buying.
“We were looking for an agency that could help us bring the passion we have for travel to our customers, and we chose 180 LA for its proven track record in developing compelling and share-worthy ideas that deliver results,” says Expedia general manager and v-p Joe Megibow. “ As we continue to create innovative products and services, we look forward to working hand in hand to move our brand and business forward.”
“As the category leader, Expedia.com literally did a 180 when they reinvented the way people plan and book travel,” says 180 CEO Michael Allen (pictured). “This way of thinking – challenging the status quo – sits at the heart of our agency and our desire to create talk value and brand movement for clients.” !80’s first campaign will break later this year.
The win is a nice start for Allen, formerly LA president, who took over as CEO of the Omnicom-owned agency just last week. !80 employs about 200 people in its LA and Amsterdam offices.
Amsterdam has also started the year well, winning the launch of Sony Playstation’s Vita games console and sports shoe maker Asics’ global account.
