Marc Modesto, the senior DraftFCB manager whose enforced departure from the agency seems to have triggered the disastrous loss of the $1bn SC Johnson account for the Interpublic-owned agency, has resurfaced as president of the Chicago office of Pittsburgh-based agency Marc.
He will be joined by veteran former DDB creative John Immesoete who will be executive VP and creative director.
“Mark and John are from the Chicago market, and they know it well,” Marc president Michele Fabrizi told Ad Age. “With backgrounds like theirs, we can continue to drive a strong, mid-size offering.”
Marc was founded in Pittsburgh in 1955, has about 200 employees and reported revenues of about $27m. Its clients include Rite-Aid, Macy’s and True Value.
SC Johnson, one of the biggest advertisers in the US, divided its account between Ogilvy & Mather and Omnicom Chicago shop Energy BBDO. Chicago, US advertising’s second city, has seen a drift of business to New York in recent years.
It will be interesting to see if Modesto and co can stop the rot and gain a foothold on the SC Johnson roster.
