Canadian joker Alan Gee flogs off GJP’s belongings for charity

Gee Jeffrey & Partners founder and creative director Alan Gee is celebrating the agency’s 20th birthday by promising to flog all the agency’s possessions on November 18 to raise money for local Toronto institution Jake’s House for Children with Autism.

He’s promising a ‘closing down, liquidation, fire sale’ of everything including the many awards the independent agency has won and, far more valuable, the office rulers.

Gee, who’s a Brit, is an advertising veteran, referring in his company biog to his stint in London at Wasey Pritchard Wood.

Blimey, that’s going back a bit. Wasey has long since disappeared in London and Pritchard Wood was the now forgotten agency that gave birth to the breakaway Boase Massimi Pollitt, now DDB London and once the home of Martin Boase, Stanley Pollitt and John Webster.

Once a salesman, always a salesman…
